Play Unblock free online. Slide the blocks out of the way to free the red block and move it to the exit. A clever sliding-block puzzle.
How to play Unblock
Objective: Slide the red horizontal block along its row until its right edge reaches the exit on the right side of the 6x6 board.
The board is a fixed 6x6 grid. The red block is horizontal, two cells long, and sits on the third row from the top, which is the exit row marked by a small red tab on the right edge. You win the moment the red block's right end slides off the right side, meaning its position plus its length reaches column six. Every other colored block is an obstacle parked between the red block and that exit, and your whole job is clearing a lane.
You move blocks by dragging them with the mouse or a finger. Each block only slides along its own axis: horizontal blocks travel left and right, vertical blocks travel up and down. They cannot rotate, pass through another block, or leave the grid, so a piece stops against whatever is in its way. Blocks are two or three cells long, meaning one tall vertical piece can jam most of a column at once. Only vertical pieces ever sit on the red block's exit row.
The counters above the board show Level (which of the six puzzles you are on), Moves (every drag that actually changes a block's position), and Cleared (the highest level you have finished, saved in your browser). Nudging a piece and releasing it in place costs no move. There is no timer and no move limit. When the red block escapes, a banner reports your move count and a Next Level button advances through the six layouts, looping to the first after the last. Restart Level resets the current puzzle anytime.
Tips and strategy
Read the red row first
Before touching anything, scan the exit row for the vertical blocks standing in the red piece's path. Those are your real targets. Move only pieces that occupy the red block's row, and ignore blocks that were never in the way to begin with.
Vertical blocks free the lane
Every obstacle in this game is a vertical piece, so the only way to open the red block's row is to slide a blocker up or down until it clears the third row, then push the red block right. The red piece itself is the only horizontal block on the board.
Make room before you move
A vertical blocker often cannot shift because another block sits above or below it. Move that second piece out of the way first. Later levels stack two or three pieces in a column, so plan the order rather than dragging the nearest block twice.
Solve in fewer moves
Moves only tally when a block actually changes cells, so plan each drag to its final spot instead of shuffling a piece back and forth. The move count in the win banner is the only score the game keeps, so aim to beat your last total.
Frequently asked questions
How many Unblock levels are there?
There are six built-in levels, shown by the Level counter above the board. They start with two blocks and grow to four or five, mixing two-cell and three-cell pieces. After you clear the sixth, the Next Level button loops back to the first, so you can keep cycling through all six.
Can I move the red block up or down?
No. The red block is horizontal, so it only slides left and right along its fixed exit row. You cannot rotate it or move it to another row. The only way to win is to clear the vertical blockers ahead of it and slide it right until it exits.
Is my Unblock progress saved?
The Cleared counter, which records the highest level you have finished, is stored in your browser and survives a reload. Your current move count and the layout you are mid-solve on are not saved, so reloading drops you back at the first level with a fresh count.
Why won't a block move when I drag it?
Blocks cannot pass through each other or leave the grid, and each moves only along its own axis. If a piece stops short, another block is blocking that direction or it has hit the board edge. Move whatever is in its path first, then it will slide.
