FEATUREDAbout This Game
Survive endless waves of neon enemies in this top-down arcade space shooter. Collect power-ups, dodge bullets, and chase your high score.
How to play Apex Fury
Objective: There is no finish line: survive escalating waves of descending enemies and post the highest score you can before three of them slip past your ship to the bottom edge.
You pilot a cyan triangle ship near the bottom of the screen. Move with WASD or the arrow keys in all four directions, including up and down, so you can climb the field to meet enemies early instead of only sliding side to side. Firing is automatic, so there is no shoot button. Press Enter or tap to start, Escape to pause or resume, and R to restart at any time.
Enemies fall from the top in three kinds. Red diamonds move straight down for 10 points. Purple hexagons weave left and right in a sine pattern for 25. Small yellow circles drop about twice as fast for 50. Every enemy dies in a single hit, and your bullets clear one at a time. Ramming an enemy with your ship also destroys it and scores the same points at no cost.
You track three lives, shown as hearts. A life is lost only when an enemy reaches the bottom edge unblocked; your ship never takes damage. The third leak ends the run. Each wave spawns more enemies and shortens the gap between spawns, and new types unlock as you advance: hexagons from wave 2 and yellow speeders from wave 4. A wave clears once every enemy is killed or leaked and the screen is empty.
Power-ups arrive two ways: enemies drop one about a quarter of the time when killed, and a free one floats down roughly every eight seconds. Fly into it to grab it. Multi-shot (M) adds two angled side bullets, speed-boost (S) makes your ship faster, freeze (F) slows every enemy to about a third speed, and shield (+) guards the bottom edge. Each effect lasts five seconds and is listed under your score.
Tips and strategy
Ram the leakers
Because your ship destroys enemies on contact with zero damage, you can dive straight into anything about to cross the bottom edge. When bullets will not land in time, body-blocking is the reliable save and still banks the full point value.
Bank shields for a refund
The shield does more than guard the floor. If you have already leaked an enemy, grabbing a shield hands one life back and turns any enemy it blocks into a 5-point kill. Collect shields while wounded rather than at full health.
Hunt the yellow circles
Fast speeders are worth 50 points, five times a red diamond, but their pace gives the least reaction time. Position above them and let auto-fire connect early, or ram them, before they reach the lower third of the field.
Read weaving hexagons
Purple hexagons swing side to side as they fall, so aiming where one sits often wastes the shot. Slide under the center of its swing and let it drift back into your auto-fire stream.
Frequently asked questions
Can you actually win, or does it just get harder?
The game is endless. Waves keep escalating in enemy count and spawn rate with no final stage, so the goal is your score and how far you last. A run ends only when a third enemy reaches the bottom edge, which flips you to the game over screen.
How do I fire my weapon?
You do not, at least not manually. Firing is fully automatic whenever you are playing, so there is no shoot key or tap-to-fire. Your only job is positioning the ship so the bullet stream lines up with incoming enemies.
Does bumping into an enemy cost me a life?
No. Colliding with your ship destroys the enemy and awards its normal points with no penalty to you. Lives are lost only when an enemy slips past to the bottom edge unblocked, which makes deliberate ramming a safe, even scoring, way to clear threats.
How many lives do I get, and can I get them back?
You start with three, shown as hearts, and lose one each time an enemy leaks past you. You can recover one: picking up a shield while you have already leaked an enemy restores a heart, so a single well-timed shield can undo an earlier mistake.
