How to play Spot the Difference
Objective: Find all five differences between the top and bottom pictures, tapping each one, and finish in the shortest time you can.
Two panels sit stacked: the top picture and the bottom picture. Both are built from the same set of 14 colored shapes, and the bottom version has exactly five changes applied to it. Tap the spot where you see a difference on either picture, since both share the same coordinates. A correct tap draws a green ring around the location on both panels. You win the moment all five rings appear, and a solved message shows your finishing time.
The five changes are always the same mix, so you know what to hunt for. Two shapes have a different color in the bottom picture. One shape is noticeably resized, shrunk to about half or grown to over one and a half times its original size. One shape from the top picture is missing entirely in the bottom one. One extra shape appears only in the bottom picture. Since the removal and addition cancel out, both panels still hold the same total number of shapes, so you find these two by comparing positions rather than counting.
The clock starts on your first tap, not before, and it counts up second by second while you play. There is no time limit and no life system, so a wrong tap costs you nothing but the seconds ticking away. A miss briefly flashes a red ring where you clicked, then clears after half a second. Your tap only needs to land within roughly a 30 unit radius of the difference, so aim near the changed shape rather than dead center.
Press New Puzzle at any time to generate a fresh, randomly built scene with new shapes and new differences. Your fastest completion is saved on this device and shown as Best in the top bar, so each new puzzle is a chance to beat it. The Found counter tracks your progress out of five, and the Time readout updates live so you always know how the current run compares.
Tips and strategy
Find the shape with no twin
The top picture has 14 shapes and the bottom also ends up with 14, because one shape is removed and a different one is added. A raw count will not separate them, so scan for a shape in the top that has no match below (the removal) and a lone shape in the bottom with no match above (the addition).
Scan colors in pairs
Two of the five changes are recolors. Sweep both pictures looking for a shape whose color differs top to bottom. Since the palette has only eight colors, a swapped shape usually stands out clearly against its unchanged neighbors.
Hunt the odd size
One shape is either shrunk to about half or blown up to over one and a half times its size. Look for a shape that reads as clearly bigger or smaller than its twin in the other panel rather than a subtle shift.
Aim near, not exact
A tap registers within about a 30 unit radius of the difference on a 320 wide field. You do not need pinpoint accuracy, so click the body of the changed shape and trust the generous hotspot to catch it.
Delay your first tap
The timer only starts on your first tap. Study both pictures, mentally mark all five spots, then tap them in a quick burst. Since misses carry no penalty beyond time, planning first keeps your recorded run tight.
Frequently asked questions
How many differences are there each round?
Always exactly five. They break down as two color changes, one resized shape, one shape that is present in the top picture but removed from the bottom, and one extra shape that appears only in the bottom picture. This mix never changes, only the shapes and positions do.
Is there a time limit or a way to lose?
No. There is no countdown and no life system, so you cannot fail or run out. The clock counts upward from your first tap purely to measure how fast you solve it. You keep playing the same scene until all five differences are found.
Do wrong taps hurt my score?
A missed tap flashes a red ring for half a second and then disappears, but it adds no penalty of its own. The only cost is indirect: the timer keeps running while you search, so scattershot tapping slows down your final completion time.
Do I have to tap the correct picture?
No. Both panels use the same coordinate grid, so you can tap a difference on either the top or the bottom picture and it counts. A correct hit draws the green confirmation ring on both panels at once at that spot.
How does the Best time work?
When you find all five differences, your finishing time is compared to your saved record and kept only if it is faster. It is stored in your browser on this device and shown as Best in the top bar. Clearing your browser data resets it.
What does New Puzzle do?
It builds a completely fresh scene with newly randomized shapes, colors, positions, and five new differences, then resets the Found counter and the timer. Your saved Best time carries over, so every new puzzle is a fresh attempt to lower your record.
