About This Game

Play Sky Hop free online. Bounce endlessly up the platforms - steer left and right and climb as high as you can without falling.

How to play Sky Hop

Objective: There is no finish line in Sky Hop; you win by bouncing up an endless stack of platforms and pushing your Height number higher than your saved Best before you miss a platform and fall off the bottom.

Your green blob starts near the bottom and is launched upward automatically. Gravity constantly pulls it back down, so it rises, slows, and falls in an arc. When it is falling and its body overlaps a purple platform, it bounces back up with the exact same launch force every time. You never jump manually and you never lose the ability to bounce, so the whole game is about lining the blob up over the next platform before it drops past it.

You only steer left and right. Hold the left half of the screen to drift left, hold the right half to drift right, or use the left and right arrow keys (A and D also work). The blob slides sideways at a fixed speed only while you hold a direction and stops the instant you release, with no coasting or momentum, so you can park it precisely over the next platform before it drops.

The screen only scrolls upward. Once the blob climbs past the line about 42 percent down from the top, the camera locks and every platform slides down instead. Your Height score counts the pixels you have pushed the world down, so it rises only while you are climbing; hovering or falling adds nothing. New platforms are generated above as old ones scroll off the bottom, spaced randomly by roughly 50 to 80 pixels apart.

The left and right edges wrap around. If the blob leaves one side of the screen it reappears on the opposite side at the same height, which lets you reach a platform sitting near the far wall by steering off the near edge instead of crossing the whole board. The run ends the instant the blob falls far enough below the bottom edge that no platform catches it, and your Best is saved automatically if you beat it.

Tips and strategy

Bounce only catches on the way down

The blob passes straight through platforms while rising and only bounces when it is falling onto one. Do not expect to land on something above you mid-jump; plan your steering for where you will come down, not where you are heading up.

Use the edge wrap as a shortcut

When the next platform sits against the left or right wall, steer off the near edge and reappear on the far side rather than drifting the full width. Wrapping is often faster and safer than a long horizontal crossing that risks overshooting.

Steer at the top of the arc

The blob slides at a fixed sideways speed while you hold a direction and stops the moment you let go, so aim is about position, not timing the release. Line up your landing while it is near the peak and slowing vertically, when you have the most frames to correct before gravity drops it onto the platform.

Height only counts while climbing

The score adds pixels only when you push above the camera line. Bouncing on the same low platforms repeatedly earns nothing, so always aim for a platform higher than your current peak instead of playing it safe sideways.

Aim for center platforms

Platforms are placed at random horizontal positions with no pattern to memorize. Favor ones nearer the middle when you have a choice, since they give you room to correct in either direction on the next bounce instead of trapping you against a wall.

Frequently asked questions

How do I jump?

You do not jump manually. The blob is launched upward at the start and bounces automatically with the same force whenever it falls onto a platform. Your only input is steering left and right to position it over the next platform before it drops past.

What ends the run?

The run ends only when the blob falls off the bottom of the screen after missing every platform below it. There are no lives, no timer, and no enemies. Miss one landing and drop far enough that nothing catches you, and the game is over.

What does the Height number mean?

Height is your score, counted in the pixels you have scrolled the world downward by climbing above the camera line about 42 percent down from the top. It rises only while you are moving up, so it is a direct measure of how far you have climbed this run.

Does the game get faster or harder over time?

The bounce force, gravity, and steering speed stay constant for the whole run, and platform spacing is always random within the same range. The difficulty comes from your own margin for error growing thin as you tire, not from any speed ramp built into the game.

Can I move off the side of the screen?

Yes. The left and right edges wrap around, so steering off one side brings the blob back on the opposite side at the same height. Use it to reach platforms near the far wall without drifting across the entire board.

Is my best height saved?

Yes. Your highest Height is stored in your browser's local storage and shown as Best next to your current score. It survives closing the tab but stays only on that device and browser; it is never uploaded anywhere.
