About This Game
Play Pipe Rotate free online. Rotate the pipe tiles to connect the source to every endpoint. A relaxing, addictive connection puzzle.
How to play Pipe Rotate
Objective: Rotate every pipe tile until all of them connect to the orange source with no loose ends pointing off the grid or into a wall.
Pick a difficulty first: Easy is a 4x4 grid, Medium is 5x5, and Hard is 6x6. The board fills with pipe tiles, one of which is the source, shown as a larger orange dot. Every tile, the source included, is spun a random number of quarter-turns at the start, so the network begins scrambled. Turn tiles until one unbroken network runs from the source to every cell, with no pipe end left hanging.
Click or tap any tile to rotate its pipe 90 degrees clockwise. Each tap counts as one move, shown in the counter at the top. Two neighboring tiles carry power only when both point at each other: a tile aiming east links up only if the tile to its right aims back west. A pipe end pointing at the outer edge, or at a neighbor not pointing back, is a leak and breaks the solve.
Tiles turn cyan the moment they connect to the source, so color is your live feedback. Follow the cyan outward from the orange dot and fix the gray tiles at the frontier. You win only when there are zero leaks and every cell is lit cyan, and only after at least one move, so a layout that already looks solved still needs a rotation. There are no lives and no power-ups.
Because each tap goes clockwise only, plan the shortest route to a tile's correct facing: a piece needing one quarter-turn counterclockwise takes three taps clockwise. When you solve it, a panel shows your rotation count, and your lowest count per difficulty is saved as your Best. Replaying to beat that number is the real challenge.
Tips and strategy
Start at the source
The orange tile is the only guaranteed anchor. Fix its connections first, then work outward one ring at a time. Since powered tiles light cyan, you always know where the live network ends and which gray tile comes next.
Count taps clockwise
Every click rotates clockwise only. To face a pipe one quarter-turn left, tap three times, not once. Deciding the target facing before you touch a tile keeps your move count low.
Edge pipes cannot leak out
Any pipe end pointing off the grid is a leak that blocks the win. On border tiles, rule out the outward direction at once. Corner tiles have two forbidden directions, which usually pins their orientation quickly.
Both tiles must agree
A connection needs both neighbors pointing at each other. If a tile looks correct but stays gray, check the tile it reaches toward: that neighbor probably needs a rotation too before power flows.
Chase the last gray tiles
When most of the board is cyan, the remaining gray cells reveal the exact break. Fixing one often lights a whole chain at once, so leave isolated gray clusters for last and let the color confirm your solve.
Frequently asked questions
How do I win a puzzle?
You win when no pipe end leaks off the grid or into a non-matching neighbor, and every cell is connected to the source and lit cyan. The game also requires at least one move, so you must rotate a tile even if the board already looks complete.
How does the move score work?
Your score is the number of rotations, called moves, that you use to solve the puzzle. Lower is better. Each difficulty keeps its own Best, shown in green next to the counter, and it updates only when you finish in fewer moves than your previous record on that grid size.
Can I rotate pipes counterclockwise?
No. Every tap turns the tile 90 degrees clockwise only. To reach a facing that would be one quarter-turn counterclockwise, tap the tile three times. Planning the clockwise route to each tile's correct orientation is how you keep your move count down.
Is there a timer or a way to lose at pipe rotate?
There is no timer, no life count, and no fail state, so you cannot lose. Take as many rotations as you like; the only pressure is beating your saved Best for that difficulty. Use New Puzzle any time to start a fresh scrambled board.
