About This Game
Play Merge Fruit free online - drop fruit and merge matching pieces into bigger fruit. The viral physics merge game. Aim, drop, and chase a high score.
How to play Merge Fruit
Objective: Keep dropping and merging matching fruit to build ever-larger ones, growing your score without letting a settled fruit rest above the red line for too long.
Move your pointer or finger across the play area to aim the fruit waiting at the top, then release (lift your finger or let go of the mouse) to drop it straight down. A faint ghost of the next fruit and a dashed guide line show exactly where it will land. Only the four smallest fruit types are ever dealt to you, chosen at random, so you never drop a large fruit directly. Aim carefully, because a fruit obeys gravity and rolls off whatever it lands on.
When two fruit of the same type touch, they merge into the next size up at the point where they met, and you score points. There are ten sizes in total, from the small pink fruit up to the large dark green one. Each merge is worth three points times the tier, so merging the smallest pair pays three points and larger pairs pay more. Plan where the new, bigger fruit will appear, because it drops into the pile and can trigger a chain of further merges.
You lose if a fruit that has come to rest sits with its top edge above the red line for roughly one continuous second. Fruit still in motion or freshly dropped do not count, and the line glows bright red while any settled fruit pokes above it. After each drop there is a short cooldown of about four tenths of a second before you can drop again. If you ever merge two of the biggest fruit, both clear off the board and award a one hundred point bonus, freeing up space.
Tips and strategy
Sort small to large
Keep the smallest fruit toward one side and let bigger merged fruit settle low and central. A tidy size gradient means new matches sit next to their partners instead of getting buried under fruit they can never merge with.
Drop on top of matches
Since only the four smallest types are dealt, look for one already resting in the pile and drop its twin straight onto it. Merging immediately keeps the stack short and buys height back below the red line.
Chase merge chains
A merged fruit spawns where the pair met and then falls, so it can meet another match below and merge again. Set up two matching pairs stacked vertically and a single drop can cascade through several tiers at once.
Hunt the top-tier clear
Merging the two largest fruit removes both and pays a hundred points, far more than any single merge. When you have one giant fruit resting low, protect the space around it and grind toward a second to cash in.
Frequently asked questions
How do I win Merge Fruit?
There is no fixed finish line. The game runs until a fruit rests above the red line for too long, so your goal is the highest score you can reach before that happens. Your best score is saved in your browser, so each run is a challenge to beat your previous record.
Why do I only ever get small fruit to drop?
By design, only the four smallest of the ten fruit types are ever handed to you, and each is picked at random. You cannot drop a large fruit directly; the big ones exist only as the result of merging matching pairs, which makes climbing the size ladder the core challenge.
Exactly when do I lose?
You lose when a fruit that has settled sits with its top edge above the red dashed line for about one continuous second. Fruit that are still falling, rolling, or bouncing do not count. That grace period is why a fruit can briefly cross the line during play without ending your run.
How are points scored when fruit merge?
Each merge awards three points multiplied by the fruit's tier, so bigger merges pay more. Merging the two largest fruit clears both from the board and adds a one hundred point bonus on top. Chaining several merges from a single drop stacks these payouts quickly.
