About This Game
Play Block Puzzle free online - stack falling blocks, clear lines, and chase your high score. Keyboard, swipe, and on-screen controls. The classic falling-blocks game.
How to play Block Puzzle
Objective: There is no final level; you win by clearing as many rows as possible to push your score past your saved best before the stack blocks new pieces.
Block Puzzle drops seven tetromino shapes (I, O, T, S, Z, J, and L) onto a grid 10 columns wide and 20 rows tall. Pieces are dealt from a shuffled seven-bag, so every shape appears once before any repeats. Slide and rotate each falling piece so a horizontal row fills with no gaps. A full row clears, the blocks above drop down, and play continues until the stack reaches the top.
Move left and right with the arrow keys or the A and D keys. The down arrow or S soft-drops the piece one row per press, and the up arrow, W, or X rotates it clockwise. The spacebar hard-drops it straight to the bottom and locks it. On touch screens, swipe left or right to shift one column, tap the board to rotate, and swipe down to hard-drop.
Clearing one row scores 100 points, two rows at once scores 300, three scores 500, and four (a Tetris) scores 800. That base is multiplied by your current level, so large clears made later pay far more. Level starts at 1 and rises by one for every 10 lines cleared. Each level also speeds gravity: pieces begin falling every 800 milliseconds and drop 70 milliseconds faster per level, down to a 110-millisecond floor.
Rotation tries a small wall kick, testing offsets of zero, then one, then two cells to each side, so you can spin a piece flush against a wall or block. A piece locks the instant it cannot fall further, whether by gravity, a soft drop, or a hard drop; there is no sliding once it settles. The run ends when a newly spawned piece overlaps the stack, and your best score is saved in your browser.
Tips and strategy
Bank a column for the I piece
Watch the Next box and keep one column empty so a vertical I piece can complete four rows at once. A single-row clear scores only 100 points, while four cleared together score 800, an eightfold payoff for the same piece.
Cash big clears at higher levels
Line points multiply by your current level, and level climbs every 10 cleared lines. A four-row clear worth 800 at level 1 pays 1600 at level 2. Build your line count before setting up your biggest clears.
Keep the surface flat
A gap you bury cannot clear until you dig it back out, and gravity only accelerates. Lay S, Z, J, and L pieces to avoid holes and favor a low, even surface so any incoming shape has a landing spot.
Rotate tight into corners
The kick system shifts a rotation up to two cells sideways, so you can spin an I or L piece into a corner even when the base position looks blocked. Use it to slot pieces into narrow columns near the edges.
Frequently asked questions
Can I win Block Puzzle?
No, there is no victory screen or final stage. The board feeds pieces from a reshuffled seven-bag indefinitely, so you play to beat your own best score. A run ends only when a new piece spawns directly on top of existing blocks.
Is there a hold or swap feature?
No. You cannot store a piece for later or swap the one that is falling. You only ever see the current piece and the single upcoming shape in the Next box, so each tetromino must be placed as it arrives.
Why did my piece lock before I was done?
There is no lock delay in this version. A piece freezes the instant it cannot drop another row. If you soft-drop or hard-drop onto the stack it locks at once, so make your moves and rotations before the piece reaches a resting surface.
How is my high score saved?
Your best score is stored in your browser's local storage for this game only, and updated when a run beats the previous best. It survives reloads on the same device and browser but is not synced or tied to an account. Clearing browser data resets it.
