Overview

Connected Papers is a unique visual research discovery tool that generates interactive graphs showing the relationships between academic papers. Given a single seed paper, it builds a visual network of the most related works based on co-citation and bibliographic coupling analysis, helping researchers quickly understand the landscape of a research area and discover papers they might otherwise miss.

The graph visualization makes it intuitive to spot clusters of related work, identify seminal papers (shown as larger nodes), and find recent developments (color-coded by publication year). Users can also generate Prior Works and Derivative Works views to trace the intellectual lineage of a paper forward and backward through time.

Connected Papers is particularly valuable in the early stages of a research project when a researcher needs to map out the relevant literature landscape. It complements traditional search tools by providing a spatial, visual understanding of how papers relate to each other rather than just a ranked list of results.

Key Features
